For all my ladies and men who constantly struggle with dry hair, today’s post is for you! I promise this is going to be a quick one.
I can confidently say that I have finally perfected my routine—using the right product lineup—to achieve maximum moisture that lasts the entire week.
If you missed my previous post, I let you in on my natural hair goals for this year. One of my main focuses was length retention and how I intend to protect and nourish the oldest, most fragile parts of my hair—my ends. The key to that is keeping my natural kinky coils properly hydrated!
My Must-Have Layering Lineup
With that said, I want to share the ultimate product lineup you need to try. When applied in this exact layering order, it is absolutely perfect for low-porosity hair and long-lasting moisture.
1. African Pride Moisture Miracle Hydrate & Strengthen Leave-In Conditioning Cream (15oz):
This leave-in product provides the perfect, lightweight, creamy texture for your first base layer of hydration right after washing or on dry hair. I absolutely love this leave-in conditioner; it softens and hydrates the hair effortlessly.
• Note: This product is not easily accessible on Amazon, but it can be purchased online at BSW Beauty Canada.

2. Camille Rose Naturals Curlaide Moisture Butter (8oz):
Next, follow up with this moisture-rich butter—a holy grail of mine! It intensely hydrates coils, especially after locking in the hydration from the previous step, and keeps it soft for days.
OR
Mielle Avocado Moisturizing Hair Milk (8oz):
Alternatively, you can use this product instead if you prefer a lightweight moisturizer. The Mielle Avocado Moisturizing Hair Milk is a new product I am testing out from a recent purchase, and I love it! It is lightweight, does not weigh down or sit on top of the hair, and absorbs into the hair shaft seamlessly for premium hydration.
3. Olive Oil:
An easily accessible—literally can find it anywhere (look into your pantry or kitchen cupboard lol!)—penetrating oil that works to seal in the water-based moisture from the previous steps. Use a generous amount to coat your strands, but be especially heavy-handed at your ends.
4. Blue Magic Hair & Scalp Conditioner – Bergamot (12oz):

A classic product, but at times side-eyed. I use this product ONLY towards the ends of my hair—not along my hair shaft or my scalp, just my ends—and I am heavy-handed with it too. Think of this as the ultimate lock on top of the olive oil for those fragile ends. I am here to say this is a must-have for locking down moisture and creating a protective barrier over fragile, delicate ends.
Signs of Retained Moisture
Good indicators that moisture is truly locked in include strong curl definition, elasticity, manageability, and hair that stays soft for days.
I understand that not all hair is created equal, so how long the moisture lasts for you may vary depending on your lifestyle, how often you manipulate your hair, and other factors. I am just sharing what I use, my application method, and my personal experience with moisture retention when layering with these products in hopes that it works for you! Also, use your discretion on how heavy-handed you are with some of the products, especially if you have fine hair.
