We are approximately one month into the fall season, and as we enter the colder months some of us are taking preventative measures, protective hairstyles, to protect and preserve our hair from constant hair manipulation and environmental hair stressors that can trigger hair breakage.
Protective hairstyling is hair care which aims to achieve preservation and retention, producing healthier hair when done correctly. There are various protective styling options such as braids, buns, ponytails, two-strands twists, cornrows, sew-in weaves that can be worn to combat hair breakage which tend to result from friction and dry and brittle hair.
My protective styling option of choice for the last year and change has been cornrows and wigs while managing my hair care regimen; and in today’s post, I wanted to share with you my top 4 favorite synthetic wigs of 2024 bought on Amazon.

Brief Review:
This was the second time I bought the Kamiyah wig; my first purchase can be found on the blog, where I shared my review and installation. Aside from the hair color, the only difference from my first purchase and this purchase, was that I improved in my installation technique and styling. There were no major issues or concerns with the wig; I liked the pre-plucked seamless hairline; the HD transparent lace; the baby hairs; and the pre-attached wide elastic band (it will lose its stretch over time). The wig can be worn as is; however, I did modify it by cutting inches off and adding layers and loose soft curls to the unit which held well.

Brief Review:
This was my third purchase of the Arlissa wig; I liked everything about this wig, no modifications required; it’s layered, curled, and has a nice bounce. The hairline and sideburns were pre-plucked with natural baby’s hair; the lace was a HD soft transparent with a wide (2”x5”) lace part; and included a pre-attached wide elastic band (will lose its stretch over time) for a secure fit. I had no issues with the Arlissa wig; but I should add, in the course of time the curls will eventually drop to more of a wavy style; and the ends of the hair will appear stale and will require trimming, to prolong the wig lifespan.

Brief Review:
I liked the Pascale wig; however, the wig did not appear like what was displayed on the hair card. This wig required the most alteration / manipulation; I had to re-part, cut, add layers, and hot comb to achieve my desired look — if you know how to style hair, this won’t be an issue for you. In spite of that, the main setback I had with the unit was poor wig construction; the tracks were not properly sewed flat to the cap, which resulted in lumps throughout when a smooth finish should have been attained. Overall, the Pascale wig was decent. I would repurchase in the future, but just not from the vendor listed above.

This was my second purchase of the Arlissa wig; I liked everything about this wig, no modifications needed; it’s layered, curled, has a nice bounce, and the salon-inspired color was exceptional (perfect for fall or winter). The hairline and sideburns were pre-plucked with natural baby’s hair; the lace was a HD soft transparent with a wide (2”x5”) lace part; and included a pre-attached wide elastic band (will lose its stretch over time) for a secure fit. I had no issues with the Arlissa wig; but I should add, in time, the curls will eventually drop to more of a wavy style; and the ends of the hair will appear stale and will require trimming, to prolong the wig lifespan.
