For many of us naturals, the colder months warrant protective hairstyles to prevent constant manipulation and to shield our hair from environmental factors that impact our hair’s wellness.
Protective styles include buns, flat twists, braids, crotchet, cornrows, locs, and weave amongst others. The protective hairstyle that I have been wearing is the Outre Hair Melting Hairline Lace Front Wig, Kamiyah, that I recently purchased and will be reviewing.

Outre Melting Hairline Lace Front Wig, Kamiyah, Ginger Brown (DR2)
Pros:
The Kamiyah is my first lace front wig, and it did not disappoint. Kamiyah is a beginner friendly, easy installation unit for those seeking a modestly priced protective style that does not require the assistance of a hair professional.
Not to mention, I was hesitant about stepping outside of my comfort zone in respect to the hair color of choice (Ginger Brown), but I am glad I went through with this purchase; the color suits my skin tone and is fitting for the Fall and/or Winter season. The unit is soft with a slight texture which I suspect could hold a curl — heat safe up to 350° – however I cannot attest to this until I actually apply heat to the unit.
Cons:
With the good comes the bad, of course.
I experienced excessive shedding with the Kamiyah unit but I was able to resolve that issue fairly quickly with Göt2b Glued Blasting Freeze Hairspray. Doing so drastically reduced the shedding to a minimum. This unit does tangle (use a wide tooth comb to detangle) and will likely become stale overtime but that is expected when you are dealing with synthetic hair.
Final Thoughts
Outre Melting Hairline Lace Front Wig, Kamiyah, Ginger Brown (DR2)
In essence, I am really enjoying the Kamiyah unit while it lasts. I would co-sign this unit to any first-time lace front users. It is beginner friendly, modestly priced, and a decent protective style to get through the colder months. In the next post, I will share with you how I installed the unit.
