Melanin Haircare is back with another hair product, y’all! On December 4, 2019, the Haircare and Lifestyle brand surprised 130K followers with an announcement, “Mark Your Calendars MelaninBae! That NEW-NEW you’ve been waiting for POPS onto our site on 12.10.19,” which prompted thousands of MelaninBaes to speculate around the type of product(s) our dear friend, Whitney (@naptural85) was going to feature on the Melanin Haircare site as a new addition to the line.
Fast Forward To..
December 10, 2019, Melanin Haircare introduced their new product, the Multi-Use Softening Leave In Conditioner. In addition to that, two Melanin Merchandise were added to the Melanin Haircare Featured Collections; Melanin Stretch Satin Head Wrap (Sunset) and Melanin “Better Than Cotton” Head Wrap (Blue Wave).
With the intention of this post, I am going to share with you my review on the Multi-Use Softening Leave In Conditioner by addressing the following; (1) benefits, (2) application, and (3) my final thoughts.
From the announcement to countdowns, and hints being posted on instagram leading to the big reveal; I wasted no time placing my pre-order which guaranteed I would get my hands on the product. My order was expected to arrive the third week of January. However, being that I was on vacation I had to put the delivery on hold upon my return —the second week of February.

Application:
Even though the Multi-Use Leave In Conditioner is essentially a leave-in conditioner, it can also be applied in several ways into your hair care routine.
Several Ways To Be Applied:
- Pre-poo
- Detangler
- Rinse-out conditioner

- Leave-in conditioner

- To rehydrate hair
Typically during my wash days, I would skip applying a leave-in conditioner. However, this time around I think I may have found my staple product. Although there are many ways one can apply this product, I have limited myself to applying it in two ways.
First, as a leave-in conditioner — the core and main purpose of this product. On wet hair: I applied a generous amount of the product on sectioned hair thoroughly coating each strand. Next, using the LOC (liquid/leave-in oil cream) method; I followed up with an oil that would penetrate and seal the moisture from the leave-in, and went in with a moisturizing cream to lock in the moisture.
Second, to rehydrate my hair throughout the week. I hardly style my hair; however, when I do, it is in a style that requires little to no hair manipulation. Therefore, after a couple of days in the same style, I would apply the leave-in to refresh my hair.
My Final Thoughts:
Is the Multi-Use Softening Leave In Conditioner worth it?
100% YES!

In all honesty, out of the Melanin Haircare Signature Trio, I can confidently say that the Multi-Use Softening Leave In Conditioner is by far my favourite product.
A leave-in conditioner was never an essential step in my hair care regimen; simply because products that I had tried in the past did not work for me. As a result of that, I would make my own do-it-yourself (DIY) Aloe Vera leave-in conditioner or omit this step altogether.
Since using the Multi-Use Softening Leave In Conditioner, my hair has never felt so hydrated and soft. Just when I thought a leave-in conditioner was not a necessary step in my hair care regimen, I soon realized with the right product it definitely was. This product is loaded with high-quality, nourishing, restorative and non-toxic ingredients which has improved the quality of my hair.
Appearance:
Since using the Multi-Use Softening Leave In Conditioner, my curl definition has enhanced and my hair appears a lot healthier with an increased shine.
Feel:
The Multi-Use Softening Leave In Conditioner has, without a question transformed the way my hair feels. What was once dry and brittle is now soft, smooth, and above all, manageable.
Smell:
One word: divine!
The Multi-Use Softening Leave In Conditioner smells amazing. It smells like spearmint which is listed on the product as one of the last ingredients. I instantly fell in love with the scent prior to the application of the leave-in conditioner; it is sweet, minty and fresh, yet not overbearing.
Moisture Retention:
Moisture is incredibly important as it keeps our hair hydrated, improves hair elasticity, which can prevent or reduce breakage. With that being said, with this moisture-rich Muti-Use Softening Leave In Conditioner, have confidence in knowing that it will not deplete the hair of moisture.
Finding a good moisturizing product is hard to come by, especially when you are someone (like myself) who has low porosity hair. However, look no further because this leave-in conditioner will have your hair feeling hydrated for days, and that is a promise!
In Closing,
Overall, the Multi-Use Softening Leave In Conditioner has met all my hair expectations. I highly recommend this product in your hair care arsenal, if it is not already. Rest assured that your hair will be feeling hydrated, soft and pliable. As well as, increased elasticity and improve the hair manageability. Due to this, your hair will be less prone to breakage, and it will increase your hair’s length retention. All in all, resulting in the better health of your hair.
And that concludes my product review on the Multi-Use Softening Leave In Conditioner. This product can be used on all hair textures, and it is certainly worth the coins — you will not be disappointed.
Whitney did not come to play when she formulated this product, and she is definitely making her mark in the natural hair care industry. Good on you, Whitney! I am patiently waiting for that Melanin Haircare Deep Conditioning Treatment/Mask to drop, and I know for a fact that I am not the only one.
