If you have not read my “Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque Review,” what are you doing? Stop right here, check it out, and come right back. I got time, I’ll wait.

Now, for those who did read it, I wanted to quickly share with you a new product that may be another hair staple to add to my hair care arsenal, the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Shampoo.

It is no secret that I swear by the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque. I have been using the product during my wash days religiously over a time span of nine months, and it has contributed immensely to the overall health of my hair.

Therefore, without hesitation, it was only fitting that I got my hands on the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Shampoo to try out, and present to you an honest product review.

Shea Moisture: Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Shampoo $11.96 (CAD) | 384 ml
w/ Fig & Baobab Oil

Similar to the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Masque, the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration shampoo is useful for all type 4 hair (4A, 4B, and 4C).

This sulfate-free shampoo is designed to cleanse the hair follicles – infusing hair with intense moisture and nutrients which softens, revitalizes and enhances shine for after-shampoo manageability.

Benefits

The Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration shampoo contains essential ingredients such as Certified Organic Shea Butter and Baobab, Manuka honey, fig, etc. which aid to moisturize, protect and restore hair.

In my Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Masque post, I outlined the benefits of how three essential ingredients (that are also consistent throughout the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration collection) work together to improve the health and condition of the hair.

And just in case you missed it, I got you covered below.

Manuka Honey:

Acts as a humectant – which draws moisture from surrounding air to the hair; increasing moisture content.

  • Contains vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants
  • Improves scalp health
  • Promotes hair growth
  • Strengthens hair follicles and hair strands
  • Increases hair shine
  • Hydrates and restores

Mafura Oil:

Serves as a conditioner and moisturizer – which soften and promotes healthy hair.

  • Restores and strengthens dry, brittle and damaged hair
  • Boosts the condition of the scalp
  • Hydrates and moisturizes

Figs:

Acts as an antioxidant (Vitamin C) – which protects the hair.

  • Promotes hair growth
  • Moisturizes and strengthens hair
  • Keeps hair looking vibrant
  • Prevents hair frizz

Application

The application of the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration shampoo is straightforward.

Apply the shampoo to thoroughly wet hair, messaging it into a lather focusing on the scalp; the lather will work itself into the strands cleansing the scalp and hair.

My Thoughts on the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Shampoo
(The Truth…)

Prior to using the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration shampoo, I have used two shampoos during my natural hair journey; 1) SheaMoisture: Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine shampoo, and 2) Mixed Chicks: Gentle Clarifying shampoo, respectively. Both shampoos gently cleanses the scalp to remove product build-up; however, they lack moisture to the hair causing the hair to stiffen.

On the contrary,

my experience with the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration shampoo has been overall a positive one – in the course of using the product for over a month.

Unlike the Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine shampoo and Mixed Chicks Gentle Clarifying shampoo, the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration shampoo enhances shine, cleanses and moisturizes – providing intense hydration to the hair.

What I like about the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration shampoo is the fact that you can bypass applying a rinse-out conditioner: eliminating a step in your regimen. This shampoo is so rich in moisture that it does not strip the hair of its natural moisture. Wash days are already a full day’s work without pay – therefore using a product where you can cut corners is an incentive in itself.

Also,

with the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration shampoo you can expect it to give you a luxurious lather instantly without the need to use more product.

For My Kinky-Tightly Coiled, Low Porosity Gals & Lads

If you have kinky- tightly coiled, low porosity hair (like myself), I believe you will benefit from this shampoo! It is worth noting that the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration shampoo contains shine-enhancing nutrients. As a result, it may appear as if there is still product on the hair upon a thorough rinse, however, it is the shine-boosting effect that this shampoo promotes.

Finally,

I enjoy the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration shampoo; the lather feels rejuvenating for a luxurious at home hair experience, providing a healthy and clean foundation – which sets the tone for the next step in your wash day routine.

Let me know what shampoo you are currently using.

Additionally, Melanin Haircare introduced the new Melanin Haircare African Black Soap Reviving Shampoo on 08.26.20 and landed on 08.28.20 – I ordered my shampoo, did you? On that note, anticipate a product review coming soon.
