Thanks for tuning in to the second part of the ISEE Hair Review series, if you missed part one, where I unboxed and shared my initial thoughts of the M-Cap Kinky Curly Glueless Wig (featuring the hair specifications, cost, and shipping), click here.
In today’s post, I will provide details on how I prepped and styled M-Cap Kinky Curly Glueless Wig, and my concluding thoughts after having worn the unit.
(PREP)eration & STYLE
PREP:
Supplies:
* Shampoo
* Conditioner
* Scissors (optional)
How I prepped and styled the M-Cap Kinky Curly Glueless Wig was straightforward; to start with, I trimmed off the excess lace on the unit as close to the hairline as possible in a zigzag pattern. Then, proceeded to finger detangle the unit prior to lightly brushing it out. Afterwards, I followed up with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner (expect to experience shedding during the detangle, shampoo and conditioner stage), and allowed it to air dry on my mannequin head. Once the Kinky Curly Glueless Wig was dried, I moved on to the next phase, styling.
STYLE:
Supplies:
* Spray Bottle (with water)
* Detangler Brush
* Gel &/ Mousse
* Diffuser / Dryer (optional)
* Hair Pick / Wide-toothed Comb
The goal in this phase is to achieve curl definition to the M-Cap Kinky Curly Glueless Wig – this requires the most patience and repetition. With the unit on, from the back working my way to the front; I grabbed a section of the hair, misted the section with water and detangled it with a brush and/or my fingers from ends to the roots. Next, I applied mousse; with my fingers I raked the section, and created a smaller section within the section, and finger coiled to enhance the natural curl pattern. *This step is optional* After defining the unit; I diffused it, attempted to cut layers to shape it up a bit, and created extra volume at the roots using a wide-toothed comb. Finally, I tinted the lace with foundation to make it blend with my skin.
The purpose of a diffuser is to reduce frizz, please note that I experienced frizzing only because the “diffuser” I used was not an actual diffuser, but that is unimportant. The moral here: do not be like me, use a diffuser, or simply allow the unit to air dry.
M-Cap Kinky Curly Glueless Wig REVIEW
I cannot deny the fact that the M-Cap Kinky Curly Glueless Wig is a beautiful unit. There were aspects of the unit that were positive; at the same time, there were negative aspects that I will review.
PROS:
The M-Cap Kinky Curly Glueless Wig was a great wear and go piece – it was effortless and practical, and most importantly it is not susceptible to damage to the perimeter of the hair. A useful addition to the unit was that it was ready-made; the pre-bleached knots and pre-plucked hairline benefited a beginner, like me, as no labor required. Not to mention, the HD lace and the tiny knots heightened the quality of the unit; the miniscule knots created a natural and realistic hairline for an undetectable appearance.
Furthermore, the last two features that I appreciated, also highlighted in my First Impression review, were the C-shape design on the wig cap which conformed to the contours of the ears – talk about mindfulness! My eyewear ladies will love this touch to the wig cap. The idea of the C-shape really made a difference where comfort is concerned; I wore the M-Cap Kinky Curly Glueless Wig with such ease, no discomfort at all. Lastly, the elastic band feature was truly the cherry on top for me, it helped to achieve a seamless, undetectable appearance, knowing that I could fasten the band to my desired tightness to ensure a snug fit.
CONS:
Although the M-Cap Kinky Curly Glueless Wig was a great wear and go piece, I was displeased with the hair density (180%); it was not as thick and full as I hoped for – it did not appear as full and voluminous like the girlies I have seen on YouTube, I am just saying. The unit could have used some more hair in the crown area. I am worried that the M-Cap Kinky Curly Glueless Wig will thin out as I continue to wash and style it, due to shedding and minimal tangles I have and will continue to experience. Next, the 9×6” lace size did not necessarily do it for me, I would have preferred 13×6” lace for more coverage.
FINal thoughts
I love the concept of a glueless wig. The M-Cap Kinky Curly Glueless Wig is the first glueless wig I have purchased. Aside from the drawbacks I shared earlier, the M-Cap Kinky Curly Glueless Wig is a beautiful wear and go unit. Personally, I do not think this M-Cap is bighead friendly, but there is an option to have the wig cap customized (extra charges may apply) when placing an order.
