BlackHairandSkincare ft. Sydney Nicole Products Review

6

This is a long and overdue post, but I am here to deliver as I said I would to provide you with a quick and honest review of the BlackHairandSkincare Sydney Nicole products. But before I spill the tea, if you have not checked out my most recent post, BlackHairandSkincare ft. Sydney Nicole Products — Natural Hair Product Haul, what exactly are you waiting for? Everything you need to know about the products mentioned here can be found over there. Go ahead, I’ll wait…

BlackHairandSkincare ft. Sydney Nicole REVIEW

Now that you are well-informed with my recent purchases, I can proceed to share with you my personal thoughts of each product in sequence.

First|
African Black Soap Hair Growth Shampoo

I have mixed emotions about the African Black Soap Hair Growth Shampoo.

Pros:

I love the product for the simple fact that it moisturizes and hydrates; the shampoo does an amazing job of defining my hair texture and it lathers well, clarifying the scalp.

Additionally, I appreciate that the shampoo is stored in a bottle applicator with a twist cap for easy distribution throughout the hair without product wastage.

Cons:

Alternatively, the African Black Soap Hair Growth Shampoo is potent – peppermint oil infused, causing discomfort (a burning, stinging and tingling sensation) upon application.

Personally, I would not recommend the African Black Soap Hair Growth Shampoo to someone with sensitive skin and or scalp as it may cause irritation. However, if you decide to purchase this product, please use it with care as the shampoo has a thin and watery consistency which tends to run down the face and is likely to get in the eyes causing irritation (speaking from experience).

Second |
Hair Growth Conditioner

Cons:

The Hair Growth Conditioner did not do it for me. The product did not provide enough slip (slip refers to how lubricated a product makes your hair feel after applying) and moisture to my hair which did not help ease the detangling process at all.  Discounted use.

BlackHairandSkincare Rosemary and Peppermint Herbal Deep Conditioner ft. Sydney Nicole Products

third |
Rosemary & Peppermint Herbal Deep Conditioner

Pros:

Truthfully, I am quite surprised with the Rosemary & Peppermint Herbal Deep Conditioner. Contrary to the Hair Growth Conditioner, the deep conditioner provides adequate slip and moisture. I can confirm that this product replenishes and nourishes the hair strands on account of how defined my hair was after use.

Cons:

In my opinion, I could have done without the dried herbs infused in the Rosemary & Peppermint Herbal Deep Conditioner as there were instances where dried herbs would get stuck in my hair.

The dried herbs infused in the deep conditioner does have significant priorities that contribute to the overall health and growth of one’s hair; however, I did not like the idea of dried herbs being physically present in my tightly coiled textured hair.

The scent of the Rosemary & Peppermint Herbal Deep Conditioner is strong, it almost smells like a natural home remedy for sinus congestion relief.

lastly |
Organic Hair Growth Oil

Pros:

The Organic Hair Growth Oil is my preferred product from the Sydney Nicole line; it is a lightweight hair oil, does not require a dedicated wash day to be used, and the product is stored in a twist cap bottle for easy application. The hair oil is infused with peppermint oil which is not overbearing but gives a cooling sensation applied to the scalp.

Since using the oil, I have noticed minimal growth on my thinning edges (my focus area). I plan to continue using it in hopes of optimal growth.

Cons:

The Organic Hair Growth Oil has a raw and strong scent yet more subtle than the Rosemary & Peppermint Herbal Deep Conditioner.

final thoughts

Taking everything into consideration the BlackHairandSkincare Sydney Nicole products are fairly good. The only constructive feedback I would offer is that the usage of the peppermint oil infused in each product, especially the African Black Soap Hair Growth Shampoo, should be applied sparingly, or to at least consider a milder option for customers with skin or scalp sensitivity.

Applying all four products infused with peppermint oil during your hair wash day can be a bit of an overkill. The overstimulation, burning, cooling and tingling sensation on both hands and scalp does not necessarily make your hair wash regimen, a day of self-care that pleasant (well at least for me).

Unfortunately I had a negative experience with Sydney Nicole. The customer service was horrendous. I waited 8 weeks for the products to arrive. Packaged in a US Postal envelope, some of the products were leaking and some missing. In spite of numerous emails going back and forth it never resolved. Due to the negative energy around this I just took a lost and threw out the products I received

Oh, no! I’m so sorry to hear your experience was no bueno. What Sydney Nicole products did you end up purchasing? Were you able to find something similar through another haircare brand? If so, I hope your experience was exceptional! xx

Hello I have finally found a honest review on the products listed above. The shampoo is amazing on my scalp, but you are right about the shampoo getting into the eyes ouch is all I can say. Both the conditioner and deep conditioner did not work well for my very dry hair. I am not bashing I just wanted to see if anyone else had problems with the products. Also I have considered ordering a wig from the website the prices are so high. Although the wigs are for people with scalp issues.

Thank you! My staple/go-to deep conditioner is the Camille Rose Algae Renew Deep Conditioner. If you haven’t tried it, I highly suggest you do. Also, I recently pre-ordered Melanin Haircare’s Plumping Deep Conditioner which I am looking forward to try out, and possibly share a review.
